How to Secure your Marriage Certificate earlier than 6 months

Hi there! If you recently got married, you might have recently figured out that: 1. updating your status in important documents in some institutions require you to present your marriage certificate. 2. the 'OCRG' (Office of the Civil Registrar General) marriage certificate which you have (handed to you probably by your church/pastor) is different from the 'PSA' (Philippine Statistics Authority) marriage certificate. The PSA issued marriage certificate is usually considered more legit.  3. the marriage certificate will only be released 6 months after your wedding date as per standard operating procedure of the  (PSA)  Six months is acceptable if the only reason you need proof of your marriage is to update your status/last name in important documents. Acquiring a Marriage License in Baguio 2017

My husband and I just recently got married last July 2017 and with him living abroad and shouldering the wedding costs, my part was to do the paperwork here in Baguio and figure out how to acquire documents needed for us to get married. I decided to write a post on this as a public service to couples who are required to secure their marriage licenses here in Baguio (most especially to couples who are in long distance relationships) since, based on my personal experience, I was clueless and had no idea where to start. Google-ing it didn't help and so I had to contact several friends who got married earlier this year who were kind enough to guide us.  So without further ado, here it goes.  Before you can get married, you are required to secure a marriage license from the Local Civil Registry Office (LCR).
